Nadia Petrova had an interesting season
To this point, Nadia Petrova has had an interesting season. She has played great tennis in the Australian Open and has not been a great player in most of the tournaments so far on the year. She currently is the 18th ranked player in the WTA World Rankings
In the Australian Open, Almost all of Petrova’s success on the year came. 10th ranked player Kim Clijsters came across Petrova in the Australian Open. In her match against Clijsters she was absolutely dominant. Over the current 10th ranked player, She put together a beating that produced a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Svetlana Kuznetsova took on Petrova In the following round. The current number 5 player in the world is Svetlana Kuznetsova. In her match against Svetlana Kuznetsova her great play continued. In a 3 set battle, she was able to overtake Kuznetsova. Her great showing abruptly came to an end as she was beat in straight sets by Justine Henin in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
Petrova has not looked great, Outside of the Australian Open. This year while losing 6, she has won just 7 matches. Four of her wins came in the Australian Open. Her record is just 3-5 on the year, Outside of the Australian Open.
Already on the season, Petrova has been beaten in the first round 3 times. She has lost in her second match of a tournament another time besides these 3 first round defeats. If she doesn’t find consistency, you can expect Petrova to drop out of the top 20 as time moves on.
