Svetlana Kuznetsova with unmatched physical ability
In the WTA World Rankings, Svetlana Kuznetsova is the 5th ranked player. With some trouble, Kuznetsova has started off the year of 2010. After putting up a 43-16 record and winning 3 Singles Titles in 2009, Kuznetsova has struggled to reproduce those results in 2010.
While losing 5 she has managed to win just 7 matches in 2010. It is difficult to imagine a top 5 player struggling to keep over .500 in their winning percentage although it is certainly better to win more than you lose.
Kuznetsova has not been able to pass the 2nd round and has had a few tournaments this year. 2 different 4th round losses in the WTA Sony Ericsson Open and the Australian Open are her best finishes of 2010.
Kuznetsova’s physical abilities do not match up with these poor results. Kuznetsova has an arsenal of powerful shots and is seen as one of the strongest players in the WTA. She is known for her ability to get to difficult shots and hit nearly un-returnable shots from anywhere on the court. In the WTA, Her physical abilities are rivaled by very few players. This sort of talent should not produce a mediocre player.
She will need to find a way to get out of the early rounds of tournaments, If Kuznetsova hopes to stay near the top. If she were to make it deep into a tournament her confidence would be restored as she has the ability to beat the better players in the world.
