Venus Williams – On Fire in 2010
In 2010, Venus Williams has come out firing. Venus Williams has struggled to find her place near the top of the women’s tennis world, although Years ago she was the top player in women’s tennis. She has been in and out of the top level. She actually did not play at all in 2007.
We may look at her results last year, to put the success of Venus Williams into perspective. Venus Williams went 38-16 in her matches and won 2 singles titles, in the entire last year. These are solid numbers, but certainly not results typical a player aspiring for the top.
In the process, Venus Williams has already won a whopping 19 matches while only losing 2 this year. In 3 of her 4 matches, has brought her to the championship match. In her only tournament where she did not advance to the championship round she still managed to make it to the quarterfinals.
Venus has managed to win 2 Singles Titles, Out of her 3 finals appearances. She has only won 2 Singles Titles, in the year of 2010. Her 19 wins also represent half of her total from the entire year of 2009.
Venus appears to be rising to the top again. Her opponents are left off balance as she has a powerful serve. With a powerful forehand shot, he loves to take advantage of her opponents while they are off balance. Venus has the abilities to beat anyone, but at times makes unforced errors as she tries to put her opponents away. We may see Venus and her sister Serena battling for the top spot in the WTA World Rankings, If Venus can continue playing the way she has thus far in 2010.
