Yanina Wickmayer moves up to the 13th spot
With solid performances, Yanina Wickmayer has started off 2010. In the WTA World Rankings, This has allowed her to move up to the 13th spot. The 13th position is the highest ranking that she has achieved up to this point in her career.
While only losing 5, Wickmayer has won 18 matches this year. It appears that she has only continued to improve her game as she has played so well in 2010 and Last season Wickmayer began to emerge.
This year, Wickmayer has managed to win one Singles Title. At the WTA ASB Classic, came her title. In this event Wickmayer was amazing. During the entire tournament, her opponents failed to win a single set against her.
Wickmayer stands at 6 feet tall. On her serve, this great height gives her an advantage. She also has the length needed to reach for balls that would otherwise be out of reach.
Still has not proven the ability to beat the top players in the game, despite her great success this year. In the WTA World Rankings, She has failed to beat a single player that is currently ranked higher than her.
This year, Wickmayer has demonstrated a lot of mental toughness. After she was banned from the sport of tennis for a year, there were a lot of questions surrounding her. The ban was lifted less than two months after it was put into effect. It is sometimes difficult for players to come out and perform, after such controversy. Wickmayer however has been playing some of the best tennis of her career in the time that has followed these events.
